After an exhausting, non-stop day at work, we rushed of to make our 6:30 reservation to this storied gem in Chicago — Saigon Sisters — and what an unforgettable experience it was! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted warmly by Dan, the charming and gracious owner, who enthusiastically shared that his talented wife Mary, was the mastermind chef behind the incredible menu. This personal touch immediately set the tone for a night of culinary magic. The service was beyond exceptional — the entire staff was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had the best dining experience possible. But it was Dan's hospitality that elevated our evening. His deep knowledge of ingredients, sourcing, and the inspiration behind each dish was captivating — and we were more than happy to let him guide our journey. We began with Vietnamese spring rolls and steamed chicken dumplings — both exquisitely fresh, light, and packed with flavor. But that was just the beginning. Next came the whole Branzino with jasmine rice, bathed in an absolutely divine sauce that made each bite a revelation. The octopus with squid ink jasmine rice was a stunning showstopper — visually gorgeous and bursting with complex, delicious flavors. Add in the scrumptious crab fried rice, and we were officially in seafood utopia. As if that wasn’t enough, we indulged in the red curry chicken — a delightful twist on the traditional, slightly sweeter but bursting with the freshness of seasonal vegetables. Each dish told a story and tasted like love and passion on a plate. And just when we thought we couldn’t possibly eat another bite — out came the brown butter banana cake with ice cream drizzled with maple syrup from their family farm in Michigan.....Heavenly! We literally had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant, blissfully full and already planning our next visit. Saigon Sisters is not just a restaurant — it’s an experience. Between the remarkable food, heartwarming hospitality, and the deep culinary storytelling, it’s a place we will certified 100% recommend and absolutely return to the next time we’re in Chicago. “ Food: 5/5 Flavorful and Delicious. Good variety and filling as well. Service: 5/5 Dan (one of the owners) kept us company as we waited and continued to check-in with us as we dinned. He makes you feel like you're stepping into his home and welcomes you like you're family. The staff was very attentive and friendly as well. Atmosphere: 4.5/5 The dining room has a cozy and homey feel, with tasteful music. The only improvement would be the volume of the music. It was difficult to hear across the table and Dan at times. I'd definitely suggest this place for dinner with friends, family and loved ones. Can't wait to come back! ”

“ Absolutely loved our experience at Saigon Sisters! We started with the pork egg rolls and they were incredible—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. We also had the beef pho, which was delicious, but my personal favorite was the bun bo hue. I’m a huge fan of bold, spicy flavors and this dish hit all the right notes. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. I seriously can’t wait to go back! ”

“ Saigon Sisters was a 10/10 experience from start to finish. We were warmly greeted by the owner, who was kind and informative. It was raining when we arrived, and he thoughtfully took our umbrellas and placed them in a bucket to keep the floor dry. The indoor space was a bit tight, but it felt cozy and intimate. The food was delicious! I ordered the short rib pho—it was flavorful and comforting. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t come with cilantro, but our waitress gladly brought some on the side. The fried chicken spring rolls were also tasty; I just wish they had a bit more chicken. The standout, though, was the durian ice cream—absolutely perfect! I’ve always been curious but hesitant to try durian due to its reputation, and this was the perfect intro. It was sweet, savory, and creamy all at once. Overall, Saigon Sisters was a fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Chicago. ”

“ My husband and I had a great time! The food and service were great. The stand out items I thought were the bun bo hue and durian ice cream We ordered: the lychee margaritas, spring rolls (we ate two before snapping the pic), bun bo hue (split into two bowls), pad Thai, and durian ice cream. ”

“ Phenomenal food! My partner and I visited Vietnam quite recently and we’re on the lookout for authentic spots ever since we came back. This fits the bill! Food is delicious. The pho was definitely the best we’ve ever had in the US. Bun cha Hanoi was a little bit different than what we were getting in Hanoi but... arguably better. The smokiness and tenderness of all their meats definitely stands out - so flavorful! For dessert we got mango sticky rice that wasn’t really what you’d get in Thailand/a Thai place as it was closer to a rice pudding. This texture might not be everybody’s cup of tea but the flavor was great, including a very ripe mango. Very solid Vietnamese coffee, too. It’s definitely somewhat pricey compared to most other Vietnamese spots but the premium price is totally justified by the superb quality. ”
